Young Old
「Young-Old=早期高齢者」とは、50歳以上の高所得者層で、退職後も体力があり、第二の人生を楽しみたいと考えている新しいジェネレーションです。本書では、著者のDeane Simpsonが、世界各地の早期高齢者のコミュニティを調査し、新たな高齢化社会の到来に伴う建築や都市の変容を考察しています。各コミュニティの分析のためにさまざまな地図や図面が使われていますが、一貫したカラーコーディングによって、複数のケースを比較することが可能になっています。ネオンカラーの鮮やかな色彩と、抽象的で繊細なパターンの組み合わせが、地図やドローイングに質感を生んでいます。
Young-Old is a new demographic group composed of individuals over 50 years of age who have a higher income and have retired, but remain active and wish to spend their time on leisure activities in their "second lives." In this book, author Deane Simpson explores the communities of this demographic group in various locations around the world, examining the architectural and urban transformations necessary to accommodate the rising population of older adults. To aid in the comparison of these communities, a consistent color coding system was implemented throughout the book. The use of vibrant neon colors and subtle abstract patterns adds depth and texture to the maps and drawings featured in the book.
