Blockbuster Since Then
Blockbusterは、アメリカ発のビデオ、DVD、ゲームレンタルチェーンです。2013年12月、他のオンライン・ストリーミングサービスとの競争の激化を理由に、Blockbusterはイギリス内のすべての店舗の閉鎖を決定します。このプロジェクトは、Blockbusterが入居していた建物を、イギリスでの倒産の一年後に追ったフォトシリーズです。Blockbusterの倒産という、テクノロジーと文化の変遷を象徴する出来事を、都市のコンテクストの中で記録することで、常に価値観をアップデートし続ける必要のある、流動的な時代に身を置く私たちの状況を、改めて浮き彫りにします。

This research project examines the fate of former Blockbuster buildings in the United Kingdom after the company's bankruptcy in 2013. The closure of Blockbuster in the UK symbolizes the rapid pace of technological change and the need to constantly adapt to new ways of living and new values. The project was nominated for the Steidl Japanese Photobook Award and was exhibited at the Tokyo Art Book Fair in 2016.
